Mr. Paul Riopel
President, ERMC

Mr. Riopel has over 24 year of experience in Emergency Preparedness and Response. He is recognized as an industry leader in Emergency Response and is the President of ERMC.

Resume:

Mr. Riopel's professional experience includes delivering Emergency Planning and Preparedness consulting to literally hundreds of clients in industry and government. His areas of expertise include: hazardous material audits, risk identification, plan development, plan audits, training, exercises and full-scale simulations. He also consults organizations on crisis communications, incident command, emergency operations centres, and equipment requirements for emergency response.

Prior to starting ERMC, from 1984 to 1990, Mr. Riopel worked with the Province of Alberta Emergency Disaster Services and was integral in the provincial government response to actual emergencies (chemical spills/refinery explosions) and disasters (tornados/floods). His responsibilities included 55 different municipalities. His experience also includes emergency preparedness and safety work with an open pit mining operation.

Mr. Riopel is a graduate of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology and is a founding member and sponsor of Disaster Forum and is also a founding member of the North East Edmonton Disaster Services Alliance. He is an often-invited guest speaker at national conferences and events highlighting Emergency Preparedness and Response.
